![]() ![]() There are hundreds if not thousands of poorly maintained buildings, and they can appear pretty nice from the pictures, but they are to be compared with a thai guesthouse of about 400 baht a night, not the resort-type accommodation they appear to be from the pictures. If you are looking for a pleasant time in Mauritius stay in a resort. Feeling that picking me up 500 meters away was only justified if he got an answer right away (though no such condition had been made explicit) he proceeded to tell me multiple times to "speak, since I have a mouth". The person who claims to be the owner (the black dude in the orange stinky van) was aggravated because I would not tell him on the spot whether I wanted the place or not. construction equipment in the garden indicating possibly high levels of noise - general mess around the garden as if someone had just dumped all their belongings - the area (it is close to the beach but it is in a zone with tons of poorly maintained buildings) After the viewing I was pressured into saying whether I wanted to stay or not, which I was not ready to decide. I was picked up for a viewing of this place, and I decided not to stay based on: - dirty walls (and generally everything that is not well shown in the pictures) - extremely dim lighting giving a jail-type feeling even in the day time - extremely rude staff. The owner, Vega, seemed friendly, only saw him once for the keys, he struggles with English but he's a nice bloke. Don't get me wrong, this place is not the Ritz, so don't expect 5 star luxury, but if you keep things in perspective for what you pay you get a real good bargain. The only missing thing from our point of view was a kettle, had to use a pan or microwave, but no real problem, everything else was there. ![]() We stayed in a villa overlooking the pool and it almost had all we needed, balcony, two full double bedrooms (we could have guests at no extra charge), a lounge with TV and dvd player, Kitchen, dining area (for 6) and bathroom. We arrived late on a Saturday night but I had kept the owner up to date with our ETA and he was here waiting for us, gave us a quick tour and left us to relax. I've stayed in Mauritius before and got a lot less for twice the price.
